Cambodian Tourism Numbers Continue to Climb

ANGKOR: As the Cambodian tourism sector continues to bounce back from the hard hit of Covid-19, the Angkor Archaeological Park plays an important role in the steady climb back to pre-pandemic numbers.

Overall, there is an upward trend in Cambodian tourism with the Kingdom welcoming around 2.57 million international tourists so far this year. This is far more than the half a million recorded at this time last year. The Angkor Archaeological Park received 385,769 foreign tourists in the first six months of 2023, an increase of 543% from the same period last year. The park has earned nearly $18 million in ticket revenue so far this year which is a massive increase from the $2.42 million earned by this time last year.

The numbers still fall short of Angkor’s pre-Covid performance. In 2019, the park welcomed around 2.2 million international visitors and accrued around $99 million in ticket sales.

Cambodia’s Angkor Wat is the most popular tourist site in the nation and was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992. The entrance fee for a one-day park pass costs $37, a three-day pass costs $62, and a week-long pass costs $72.
